Amber Marie Liliedahl (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist living and working on the unceded territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. Raised in Kamloops, BC, she holds a BFA in Photography from Emily Carr University of Art + Design and has been based in Victoria since 2017. Her current practice revolves around mixed-media painting and drawing, informed by her loves of depth psychology, animistic spirituality, and psychedelic counterculture.
Liliedahl’s work explores the symbolic and fantastical, drawing on the visual language of folk art and illustration for its inherent charm and naiveté. Plants, animals, femme beings, celestial bodies, and talismanic objects appear throughout her work as guides, inviting connection to nature, the soul’s inner depths, and the realms of the mythic. At once personal and universal, her paintings and drawings act as symbolic tapestries inviting viewers to cross the hazy borders of shared experience; where something as common as a butterfly can carry archetypal resonance and intimate personal meaning.
In addition to her creative practice, Amber offers art workshops and tarot readings informed by her studies in Jungian psychology, counselling theory, and Western esotericism. She books tarot appointments for individuals and small groups out of Cream Life & Style and Rockslide Studios, as well as special events for folks wanting a remarkable form of entertainment.
